Green Ghost Repair

GIVE YOUR GAME A BATH! GREEN GHOST WILL THANK YOU!
It is very rare that I come across a shiny like new set. Most of the pieces are covered with feather strands and dust mites. YUCK! Take the plastic pieces, pets, scenery, spinner base, ghosts pit covers, legs and soak them in some warm soapy water. The very tiny pieces like the bones, numbers and dividers soak in a little cup if needed.
While you are doing this dip a cloth in the water and scrub your large green ghost. Don't forget to get behind the ears. Wipe down the game board with a moist cloth. You'll be surprised how much better all the pieces will look and feel.
If you have allergies your sinuses will also thank you for cleaning your game.

REMOVING THE NUMBERS and DIVIDERS
Lots of the numbers and dividers get lost because they don't fit properly into the spinner base. This is an easy fix.
First remove all the numbers and dividers to examine the spinner base better.
DON'T PEEL THE NUMBERS AND DIVIDERS OFF !!!
You may break them. Age can make these pieces incredibly brittle.
Turn the base over. Get a pencil and poke the pieces out from the back. Get a blade or sharp scissors.
Shave away extra plastic in the holes that block the pieces from fitting right. You wont be harming the base but helping it. The holes weren't produced very efficient by the manufacturer. The numbers and dividers will fit very nice after this adjustment.

FIXING CRACKS ON THE GAME BOARD.
The game board was very prone to cracks. Right on the edges seem to be the weak spot. Sometimes you can fix the crack with a little super glue. I don't see this as harming the integrity of the game, I see it as preserving. If you are going to mail this game somewhere, a little dab of superglue may save the whole board from shattering in the mail. One little crack can turn into a big one real quick.
Turn the board over and make a little pool of super glue over the crack.
If the cracks on your board are very large you may want to turn the board over and use a clear mailing tape.

FINDING HIDDEN SURPRISES

Your game may have some pieces hiding on you.
Look at your pits tombs (folded boxes). Carefully lift up the flaps inside and look for bones, dividers or numbers that may be hiding. Do this same trick to the game box. I've found many extra bones this way.
If the bottom box flaps are stapled there probably is nothing that could be wedged underneath. However if the flaps are not stapled theres a good chance you have some hidden goodies underneath.

Recycle Broken Pieces

I almost pitched this spinner base because the pointed top was chopped off. Why would anyone do that?

Find the answer below.

CUTOM REPAIRS
Below I show a half original and half cusotm repaired set. If you are missing the instructions you can print them off the internet (I've included the link).
If you dont have the snakes get some rubber bands and cut them up. Black feathers are easy enough to obtain at a craft store. The Bones look like little, black, plastic pellets/pills. Easy enough to make yourself out of some kind of plastic.
The Parts that were prone to break were the cat (his poor tail), the haunted house, and the tree.
If you have the broken pieces and they fit together like a puzzle, I say dab it with some super glue.
After it dries you can touch the bleached parts with a black or green marker to blend the colors.
If you are planning on selling your game, you really should let the buyer know if all pieces arent original. You won't be able to fool someone familiar with the game and may really upset them if you try.

MAKING THE SPINNER BASE CLICK

If your Big Green Ghost does not make the clicking noise anymore, this might be the problem: the connector cone that sits the ghost on the base was glued with the cone sticking out too far.  If it was pushed in just a little bit more and then glued it would make all parts fit and work properly.  It is too late now to push the cone in further, the glue has bonded with the plastic and it the ghost will break if you try knocking it in deeper.

However, you can cut off the point of the spinner base. Then he will sit low enough so his metal tab will hit the ridges of the spinner base and make the clicky sound you have been pining for.  If you don't want to modify your spinning base, find another and lop off the top.
